The Amethyst Trust Signature Specialist Cancer Massage E-Learning Course - includes a live video call to help assess and support your learning.

It is designed to enable individual therapists, salons and spas to welcome clients living with and beyond cancer into their business and to enjoy the amazing benefits of massage therapies.

Course Outline

This FHT approved E-Learning Course is a specially designed for qualified massage professionals, covering theory and practical considerations of offering massage therapies to clients who have either experienced or are in treatment for cancer.

This course will cover:

  • Understanding cancer
  • Cancer treatments and possible side effects
  • Medical terminology
  • Dispelling the myths around massaging clients who have experienced cancer
  • The benefits of massage therapy
  • Extending consultation skills to ensure safe treatment planning
  • Massage; considerations and adaptations - for clients who have experienced cancer from the point of diagnosis, through treatment and after they have recovered
  • Practical massage application building confidence and competence
  • Resilience for the therapist
  • Case studies, reflective practice

Assessment Methods

Students will be continuously assessed throughout the E-Learning Course with multiple choice questions. Practical massage techniques are taught by the video content and followed up with a live video call with one of our experts to ensure competence; health and safety, consultation, managing client's expectations, communication, adaptation of massage techniques and aftercare.

Pre-Requisite Requirements

Level 3 Qualification in Body Massage (e.g. VTCT, ITEC, CIBTAC or City and Guilds) or equivalent*.
Qualification certificates must be shown on enrolment.

Duration

Online home study takes approximately 6-8 hours to complete and the live video call takes about an 1.5 hours per therapist.
