Course Outline
This FHT approved course is a specially designed training course for qualified massage professionals, covering theory and practical considerations of offering massage therapies to clients who have either experienced or are in treatment for cancer.
This course will cover:
- Understanding cancer
- Cancer treatments and possible side effects
- Medical terminology
- Dispelling the myths around massaging clients who have experienced cancer
- The benefits of massage therapy
- Extending consultation skills to ensure safe treatment planning
- Massage; considerations and adaptations - for clients who have experienced cancer from the point of diagnosis, through treatment and after they have recovered
- Extensive practical massage application over 2 days, building confidence and competence
- Case studies
- Resilience for the therapist
- Reflective practice
Assessment Methods
Students will be continuously assessed by the tutor during the practical training to ensure competence; health and safety, consultation, managing client's expectations, communication, adaptation of massage techniques and aftercare.
A short written assessment will also be undertaken.
Pre-Requisite Requirements
Level 3 in Body Massage or equivalent*.
Qualification certificates must be shown on enrolment.

Duration
An extended Pre-Learning online E-Learning Unit which takes 2-4 hours to complete plus 2 days face-to-face training.
Fees
All training and course materials:
- Individual therapist £480
- 3-6 therapists from the same business £390 each
- 7+ therapists from the same business £350 each
